Nationalizing insolvent US banks is the best solution to avoid a Japan-like scenario
in which 'zombie' financial institutions would eat up public resources while the US economy would teeter on the brink of depression, Nouriel Roubini, economics professor NYU and chairman at RGE
Monitor told CNBC Tuesday.
Bank shares have fallen on news of abysmal losses and on fears that governments across the world would step in and wipe shareholders out, dragging global stock markets down, but temporary takeover
by the state of the sick institutions will insure the survival of the system, Roubini said."The market friendly solution is temporary nationalization," Roubini told "Worldwide Exchange"."Doing
something surgical and radical actually may improve the market sentiment," he said. "If we don't do it, we risk ending up like Japan, that had zombie banks for a decade," he
added.

California has come back before, but 'hysterical greens' aren't helping.
Joel Kotkin
NEWSWEEK
From the magazine issue dated Mar 2, 2009
For decades, California has epitomized America's economic strengths:
technological excellence, artistic creativity, agricultural fecundity and an intrepid entrepreneurial spirit. Yet lately California has projected a grimmer vision of a politically divided,
economically stagnant state. Last week its legislature cut a deal to close its $42 billion budget deficit, but its larger problems remain.
California has returned from the dead before, most recently in the
mid-1990s.But the odds that the Golden State can reinvent itself again seem long. The buffoonish current governor and a legislature divided between hysterical greens, public-employee
lackeys and Neanderthal Republicans have turned the state into a fiscal laughingstock. Meanwhile, more of its middle class migrates out while a large and undereducated underclass (much of
it Latino) faces dim prospects. It sometimes seems the people running the state have little feel for the very things that constitute its essence-and could allow California to reinvent
itself, and the American future, once again.

As usual, i spent a litlle
time scrutinizing the men's wear shows, wondering how designers in this deep recession could convince us to purchase luxury
items.
There's one thing which itself always strucked me, i never ever saw while reading mainstream
articles about menswears' shows a journalist whom made critics about a designer or a show.
You've been told that everything is " beyond the cutting edge" ," modern" , "sophisticated"... liked fashion designers
were our priest - taste makers and never ever could make a show catastrophe.
As any journalist didnt bad mouth about this fall's collection and as i'm no longer employed, i'll take the job
!
I recently heard a radio interview of the man who shared 50 years with Yves Saint Laurent the world wide known
french designer.Pierre Bergé was explaining why after his beloved partner died, he auctioned their 300
millions euros estimated art collection which itself is the most impressive ever seen (Mondrian, Matisse ,Warhol).
Suprisingly we discovered that Mr Yves Saint Laurent always hated " fashion" and by the way never had a good esteem
for designers, they're using " women" to design clothes instead of being at their please.
Yves Saint Laurent always tried to dedicate his work to a style research where women could be
seen as natural, naive, flexible.Style only exists cause it's intemporal.Jean Cocteau said once day " Fashion goes from beautiful to awful and Art goes from awful to
beautiful".
My first round of applause goes to Band of outsiders, the New York
based label designed by Scott Sternberger.
