Juan Monaco- Us Open 2008

Amélie Mauresmo has inherited an interesting draw Friday at Roland Garros but for the other leaders of the french tennis, like Gilles Simon and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the task looks complicated.

A top notch in the French ladies, Mauresmo found  herself to face  heads of major series (Venus Williams, Zvonareva and Petrova).

Among men, the draw was not kind to Tsonga who, on his second Roland Garros, is left with one fully trapped. Opposed to his fellow citizen Julien Benneteau in the first round,  he could  next face  the  Argentine Juan Monaco, who was the player to avoid among non-head series. The program then: Juan Martin Del Potro and Igor Andreev in the eighth, and Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals.

Gilles Simon, in total breakdown of confidence has reached a preliminary deal with  the American Wayne Odesnik but expect Fernando Gonzalez in the third round and Andy Murray in eighths.

Gaël Monfils has a much better picture, with  eventually the American Andy Roddick in the round before a possible quarter-final against Roger Federer. But the Parisian, which has led to noon Friday, is still uncertain because of a knee injury and has not played in competition for five weeks.

As Paul-Henri Mathieu, Federer could find from the third round for one of the most interesting matches of the first week.
